Bayree House was earmarked for closure |
A respite home for people with learning disabilities has been given a reprieve. Baytree House in Torquay, which is run by the Torbay Care Trust, provides residential and respite care.
It was earmarked for closure as part of a 3.2m budget cut for adult social services causing anger among parents and users.
However, Torbay Council and the Care Trust are now to review all adult social care services to see if savings can be made elsewhere.
It is good news for people who have been campaigning for the decision to be overturned since hearing about the closure threat at the respite home's Christmas party, but they know it is not the end of the matter.
The results of the review should be known by early summer, and it could result in Baytree House going back on the hit list.
Details of the revised savings plan will be formally presented to Torbay's Health Overview and Scrutiny Board on Thursday night when it meets in the Central Church.
Members of the public will also have an opportunity to ask questions and give their views.
