A Devon resort is to consider formally bidding for one of 17 new super casinos being proposed as part of government changes to the gambling laws. Supporters of the plan for Torbay believe it could create a significant number of jobs and help improve the English Riviera's declining image.
It is thought a listed-building, such as Oldway Mansion in Paignton, could be used for the venue.
Takings from the casino would then help fund the upkeep of the building.
Torbay councillors have until the end of March to let the government know their intentions.
