Speedway plans set for approval
Speedway race
The field would be used for two hours on Friday evenings
Plans for a new speedway track in Plymouth look set to be given the go-ahead despite more than 500 people objecting to the idea.

The proposal is for part of the St Boniface College Sports Ground at Coypool to be used to provide a track.

A report to be presented to the planning committee next week views the proposal positively.

It says that the issues raised, such as noise and traffic, are all capable of being addressed.

The plans have attracted 420 signatures to a petition opposing the plans and the council has had more than 90 letters from people worried about things like noise, traffic and the effect on wildlife.

The proposal is to use part of the field for two hours on Friday evenings from April to September.

If approved it would mean Plymouth would have a speedway team represented in the British League.
