Police target offenders in cars
Police car
A similar crackdown last year resulted in six arrests
Police in Plymouth will this week be targeting criminals who are on the move in the city.

Officers intend to disrupt criminals' activities while offenders are driving, by using number plate recognition equipment to spot their vehicles.

Police are keeping the locations they are monitoring secret.

But officers, including dog handlers, will be on the look out for people trying to bring Class A drugs into the city, as well as other local criminals.

The police said the crackdown, part of the on-going Operation Magnus campaign, was not anti-motorist and that similar targeting last July led to six arrests for a variety of offences.
