School place applications online
Parents across Devon will soon be able to apply for a primary school place for their children online.

It follows a successful online pilot for secondary school admissions which will continue this year.

By going to the county council's website, parents will be able to apply for a place at one of Devon's 37 secondary schools and 320 primaries.

They will also be able to obtain information on schools, admission rules and the entire admission process.

'Many benefits'

The launch of the new service is timed to coincide with the distribution of booklets which give information and advice about choosing a school.

Councillor John Smith, said: "Online admissions is a convenient and time-saving method of applying for a school place.

"Although parents may still apply in writing on the admissions application form, there are many benefits to applying online."
