There are 520 children being cared for by Plymouth Social Services |
A major campaign is being launched in Plymouth to find more foster carers. More than 500 balloons are being released by Plymouth Argyle players at Home Park, one balloon representing each child being looked after by Plymouth Social Services.
Currently there are 520 children being cared for by social services in the city and only 264 foster carers.
The council is hoping its latest campaign will identify at least 50 new foster carers.
The council says it is keen for young people to have a family-centred life rather than being in a children's home.
If sufficient foster carers cannot be found locally the children may be placed further away from their schools and friends, increasing the disruption to their lives.
