House prices could be forcing young people to leave the region |
More needs to be done to tackle the rural housing crisis in Cornwall, according to the Prince of Wales. An organisation set up by Prince Charles is holding a conference in the county on Monday to discuss ways to alleviate the problems.
Described as a "hot spot", the county has been chosen as the first place for the Affordable Rural Housing Initiative to share ideas.
The group will look at fresh ways of making affordable housing available.
Prince Charles believes the initiative can bring private and public bodies together to share new ideas.
Average house prices in Devon and Cornwall are now more than 200,000, well out of reach of many local people.
Some people believe the lack of affordable housing may be the reason for the increasing number of young people leaving the region.
