The father of a Shadow Minister Boris Johnson is to contest the Teignbridge seat for the Conservatives at the next General Election. Stanley Johnson is a former member of the European Parliament and his son, Boris, is Conservative spokesman for the Arts and editor of the Spectator.
Stanley Johnson, 64, lives and farms on Exmoor with his wife, Jennifer.
An author and environmentalist, he will be challenging Liberal Democrat Richard Younger Ross for the Teignbridge seat.
Mr Younger-Ross had a majority of 3,000 over the Conservatives in the last General Election.
The Conservatives last won the seat in 1997 with a narrow majority of only 281.
