More time for door staff licences
Bouncer
Door security staff complained about not receiving forms
Doormen and bouncers in the South West are being given a three-week extension to comply with new legislation requiring them to hold a licence.

The extension only applies to this region because not all doormen were sent their applications on time.

Across the UK it will be illegal to operate as a bouncer or a door supervisor without a proper licence from 23 August.

But in the South West the deadline has been extended to 13 September.

The region's doormen will then have to hold a supervisor licence to be legal.

Getting one will require an identity and criminal background check

It will also mean having to meet requirements for training and professional standards.

The extension was given because some applicants in the region complained that they had not received the necessary forms.
