Water watchdog calls for meeting
Water tap
Water bills in the South West are the highest in the country
A South West water watchdog is calling for an urgent meeting with a government minister to prevent the closure of its Exeter office.

The move follows an announcement earlier this month that WaterVoice is to be moved to a new office 70 miles away in Bristol.

WaterVoice says it has asked the water minister Elliot Morley for an urgent meeting to keep the Exeter office open.

The watchdog says it is concerned that customers are being sold short.

It fears that, within a year, customers may be expected to travel even further if they want help with their inquiries.

South West Water has already said that it is also concerned about the closure of the Exeter office.

The South West has high water charges in the country, with further rises expected between 2005 and 2010.
