Dolphins disrupted Class 1 qualifying on Saturday |
Ten of the fastest boats in the world will take to Plymouth Sound on Sunday for the latest round of the Honda World Powerboat Championships. The race has been organised by Chris Parsonage from Liskeard, who is also taking part in his boat Negotiator, the only British entry.
The Class 1 fleet will do 19 laps of a course at speeds of up to 160mph.
Organisers are hoping that a school of dolphins which disrupted the qualifying races on Saturday will stay away.

Earlier on Saturday, a race in the Honda 4-stroke series was also cut short when dolphins were spotted. The dolphins were dispersed after a fire boat acted as a "pied piper", leading the dolphins out of the harbour by attracting them with the noise of its high-powered water pumps.
It will now be up to the harbour authorities to decide if the area is clear on Sunday before proceeding with the finals.
