City considering ban on smoking
Exeter
The smoking plans for Exeter are still subject to council approval
Exeter City Council is one of the latest local authorities to declare a clampdown on smoking.

It is planning to target businesses and ultimately wants to establish Exeter as a smoke-free city.

From next month, council staff will visit 800 work places to establish whether they have a smoking policy in place.

It is working in partnership with the local Primary Care Health Trust and Devon Smoke Free Alliance.

The ultimate goal of the campaign, which is still subject to council approval, would be to ban smoking in public places.

Torbay launched a similar campaign last week.
