Visitors to Plymouth's historic Royal William Yard can examine the past and future of the yard in a new information centre. Recently opened in Residence Four, close to the main entrance, the information centre is split into two rooms, one focusing on the past and the other on the future.
The area dealing with the past includes old photographs, information about the history of the Yard, and its previous uses.
The display about the future includes plans, photographs, illustrations and other information about the ongoing work to breathe new life into the 18-acre site.
Fascinating history
The site is currently being developed by the South West RDA and property developers Urban Splash.
When the work is complete the site will be transformed into 130 one and two bedroom apartments with a waterfront restaurant, shops, a wine bar and an arts and exhibition centre.
Carl Budden, South West RDA development manager said: "We hope that the information centre will be useful to local residents, and anyone else who is interested in finding out something about the fascinating history of the Royal William Yard and its exciting future."
The information centre has been put together by OP:En, a Plymouth-based arts collective which has been involved in a number of private and public art projects.
