New sex clinic opens
An extra sexual health clinic has been laid on at Torbay Hospital, increasing the number of sessions every week from three to four.

It is in response to a growing demand for treatment for sexually transmitted infections.

The number of cases of chlamydia in Torbay has tripled in the last few years.

About 3,500 people visited the hospital's sexual health clinic last year.

Appointments now have to be booked on the telephone, rather than on the old "walk in and wait" system.

The Family Planning Association said earlier this month that testing women under the age of 25 for chlamydia, often called the "silent infection", was "a must" if the number of people being diagnosed with the condition was to be cut.
