Parents protest over uniform abolition

Some parents are planning a rally on the issue
Parents at a secondary school in Devon are to hold a protest against plans to abolish the school uniform.

As of this September, students at King Edward the Sixth Community College in Totnes will be able to wear what they like to school.

It is a decision the Principal has described as "brave" but many parents are worried about the possibility of standards of behaviour falling.

Designer labels

And some are planning to hold a rally to make their feelings clear and have placed a petition in local shops.

They claim pupils may be more inclined to misbehave outside school if they are not identifiable.

They also fear there could be more pressure on parents to buy designer labels and that teachers would have to spend more time enforcing a smart casual dress code.
