New snow prompts weather warning

A severe weather warning has been issued for Derby, Derbyshire and Staffordshire ahead of forecast snow.

The Met Office said it expected up to 5cms (2ins) of snow in many places later with up to 10cm (4ins) over some higher ground.

Motorists are being warned to take extra care as widespread ice is likely to form in the evening, especially on untreated roads.

Gritting lorries are expected to be working at full capacity.
