New talks over Playhouse's future
Treasure Island
The Playhouse has reported good sales for Treasure Island
Bosses at the troubled Derby Playhouse are due to meet to discuss its immediate future.

The venue went into administration in November after it failed to secure a financial rescue package.

The doors were closed for over a week until backing was secured for a Christmas run of Treasure Island.

Now managers want to extend this run and look at putting on the first show from the Playhouse's new programme, Devil's League - about Brian Clough.

Both the city council and the Arts Council have withheld financial support, citing doubts about the theatre's management.

In turn, managers blamed cash problems on disruption from nearby construction and interference from the city authorities.

Administrators Tenon Recovery confirmed receiving a number of enquiries about running the theatre in the long-term.

All parties have insisted they are committed to providing Derby with a strong theatre.
