One of Derbyshire's most famous beauty spots is to benefit from a new project to enhance its wetlands. Money from the Tubney Charitable Trust is being spent on the River Dove.
The three-year project will also monitor and help various species of endangered animals living in and around the river.
Water vole, kingfishers and Atlantic salmon are set to benefit and Water for Wildlife project manager Helen Perkins said the cash would make a difference.
She said creating areas of more suitable habitat would help species such as the white-clawed crayfish, which had been declining over recent years.
