Tania Moore was murdered by former partner Mark Dyche |
Two Derbyshire detectives disciplined for failing to properly investigate events leading up to the death of a showjumper have lodged appeals. Tania Moore was shot dead by her former fiance Mark Dyche in 2004.
An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) inquiry looked at how police dealt with an earlier robbery of Ms Moore which Dyche allegedly ordered.
A woman detective was sacked. Another was demoted. The Chief Constable has 21 days to consider their appeals.
'Abysmal' response
Six officers ranging from the rank of constable to chief inspector admitted failing in their duties over the robbery in which Ms Moore was attacked and had her mobile phone stolen.
A seventh officer was cleared during the investigation which also looked at how Derbyshire police communicated with the Staffordshire force.
Four Staffordshire men who robbed Miss Moore before her death in 2004 were jailed for a total of 10 years.
Her family said in a statement that Ms Moore would be alive if the police had acted differently.
Amerdeep Somal, IPCC commissioner for Derbyshire, said after the officers' tribunal: "The response by Derbyshire police was abysmal.
"Collective failure by officers and their supervisors in Ashbourne division meant no meaningful investigation took place."
After a trial in 2005, Dyche was jailed for life for Ms Moore's murder.
