New patrol fleet hits the street
Motorway drivers in Derbyshire will find a new type of support on their roads with the introduction of a fleet of 24-hour patrols.

Traffic officers will be on hand round the clock to help stranded motorists, respond to emergency calls and attend to minor accidents on the M1.

The four-wheel drive vehicles with a black and yellow 'Battenberg' motif will be highly visible at Junction 26.

Operations manager Matthew Pates said they should make a big difference.

He added: "Our first priority is always safety and then trying to improve the reliability of the network by targeting congestion.

"Of course looking after the safety of motorists is very high on our list of priorities."
