Nurses push bed on city streets
Derby nurses will push a hospital bed through city streets as part of their annual fundraising on Thursday.

The team from Ward 9, the acute stroke unit at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary (DRI), will start at the hospital's main entrance.

They will head along Osmaston Road, St Peters Street, the Cornmarket, Market Place and back again to the DRI.

Money raised will go towards buying a 3,000 Carendo shower chair for patients on the unit.

Staff have already raised 1,400 from a sponsored walk around Carsington and a charity football match and expect the bed push will raise the rest needed.

Melanie Clarke, sister on Ward 9, said: "A charity bed push is an ideal way to raise awareness of the hospital whilst at the same time raising money for extras for patients on the ward."

The walk is set to start at 0845 BST and finish by 1400.
