Savage attack on rustic park loo
damaged loo in Peak District
Vandals attacked the building in the Peak District
A national park has offered a reward after a rustic stone toilet block was smashed to pieces.

Rangers say someone bearing a grudge against the Peak District National Park Authority may have launched the attack.

The loo, just outside Bakewell in Derbyshire, is in an area popular with walkers, picnickers and day trippers.

Sean Prendergast, chief ranger, said: "These people have come prepared - and used hand tools, sledgehammers and pickaxes to tear down the stone walls."

He said: "They have done this with a certain amount of savagery and their intent was to destroy.

"This wasn't the work of a bored teenager - it was the work of someone who set out to demolish the building."

The park authority has offered a 500 reward for information leading to an arrest of the person who damaged the White Lodge car park toilet block.
