Top rating for two local councils

Derbyshire and Leicestershire topped the survey
Two East Midlands councils have been rated in the top 20 in the country for social care.

A report by the Commission for Social Care Inspection awarded Leicestershire and Derbyshire three-star ratings for their social care provision for adults and children.

The region was ranked second in the UK overall with an average rating of two stars for the nine councils.

Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire rated lowest with only one star.

Ideas shared

None of the councils in the region received the lowest no-star rating.

Five councils - Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Rutland - secured two-star results in the league tables.

Only the North East was stronger overall in the survey, with the South West and West Midlands at the bottom of the list.

The top-rated counties of Derbyshire and Leicestershire are being encouraged to share some ideas with lower-scoring councils.

The survey aims to give a rounded picture of each council's performance in social services.
