The charity pledge featured prominently in Qibla Cola publicity |
A Derby-based soft drinks company says it will be honouring a promise to donate 10% of its profits to charity. When Qibla Cola was set up it marketed itself on the selling point that part its of profits would go to good causes.
Last month the Muslim charity Islamic Aid pulled out of an agreement with Qibla Cola because it has not yet received any money.
But Qibla Cola says it expects to start making a profit next year and will donate money to charity then.
Muslim Aid, which supports projects providing basic needs like clean water and healthcare, said the company was misleading consumers about its donations.
But Qibla Cola said it has already made donations this year, including 1,500 to BBC Children in Need and contributions to schools and hospitals.
