Rolls Royce has announced a �136m pre-tax profit in its half yearly results, up 18% on last year. The Derby aero-engine maker says the gains are down to steady civil aerospace sales which has meant increases in pre-tax profits of �20m.
In addition the company announced a record order book of over �18 billion.
The news comes as the company embarks on the building of two multi million pound factories in Derby - which will employ 600 people.
Civil engine deliveries also increased by 9% to 384.
The company says it is investing more than a �100m in manufacturing facilities in the UK.
