A drug action group has voiced concerns about the levels of drug taking and dealing among Derby's students. Earlier this week, three university students were jailed, after police found 500 ecstasy tablets and bags of cannabis in their home, in the city.
According to police figures, 40 people die in Derbyshire every year as a result of drug taking.
A manager at the Derbyshire Drug Market Project warned many students slip into drug taking without thinking.
Steve Holme, manager of the Derbyshire Drug Market Project, said: "The young people don't even consider that ecstasy should be a controlled drug.
"They have a very different attitude, which make it easier to start buying them in the first place."
