Churches across Lincolnshire are considering prayer as a weapon in the war on crime. A national scheme which encourages congregations to adopt a police officer and then pray for him or her could be taken up in the county.
Constable Peter Kay from the Lincolnshire branch of the Christian Police Association said: "Local churches, or a local church, decide they want to pray for their local police officers.
"Then they contact the divisional commander and tell them they want to start this scheme and the Christian Police Association will guide them in how to set it up."
