A primary school where children have been suffering from a stomach bug has been closed down for intensive cleaning. About 60 pupils at the Reigate Primary school on the Mackworth Estate in Derby have been taken ill.
Following advice from environmental health officers, Derby City Council ordered the building to be cleaned throughout.
Letters have been sent home to parents of the 440 pupils telling them not to bring their children to classes on Monday and Tuesday.
Investigations are now continuing into whether the bug has been caused by a virus or bacteria.
In July 2001, the school had to be closed because of an outbreak of gastro-entiritis among staff and pupils.
