Police has fewest complaints
New figures from the Police Complaints Authority show that Derbyshire is one of the least complained about forces in the country.

But Staffordshire police recorded more complaints than any other force in the country.

The authority's annual report has highlighted that Derbyshire police had only 38 complaints made against it for every 1,000 officers in the force.

Only the City of London police had a better record with 14 complaints.

Special training

However, 235 were made against Staffordshire police, which is more than anyone else in England and Wales.

Staffordshire constabulary said the high figure is due to a confusing method of recording the statistics.

Detective Chief Inspector Glenn Wicks from the Derbyshire force explained they had put a lot of effort into keeping complaints down.

He said: "We are working hard to train all our officers, from probationers from when they first join right up to the senior officers, in how we can reduce complaints if at all possible.

"And then when complainants come down to the police station to make the complaints, how we can best treat them to keep them satisfied."
