A Derbyshire council has agreed its official response to a damning report into the conduct of its councillors and officers. Erewash Borough Council was criticised by an Audit Commission report into the authority.
It found serious failings in the running of the council and in the conduct of the former leader Cyril Stevens and some senior officers.
The council has now pledged to introduce measures including a new training programme for staff and revising tendering procedures.
New council leader Robert Parkinson says it is about looking to the future now.
He said: "The important thing now is to make sure that action takes place.
"That the whole climate in which the council operates, both internally and externally is improved so that not only do the staff have confidence but the public at large have confidence as well.
"This is our major task for the next few months."
