Police are warning that bogus charity leaflets are being delivered to homes in a Cumbrian town. The leaflets, bearing the name Helpmates Limited, ask homeowners to make a donation of clothing to aid people in the Third World. A spokesman for Cumbria Police said the charity was a fake. He said one man seen handing out leaflets in Milnthorpe Road, Kendal was 5ft 8in (1.73m) tall and in his 20s. He was wearing a cap and blue jacket. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
