Flooding causes mainline delays

Flooding hit sections of the West Coast Mainline in Cumbria causing disruption to services.

Passengers experienced delays of up to an hour on Wednesday morning due to flooding between Penrith and Oxenholme Lake District stations.

Services affected included Virgin Trains, Scotrail, and First Transpennine Express.

Trains resumed normal services when the flooding, caused by heavy rain, was cleared after a three-hour period.
