Man badly hurt as car hits tree
A man was seriously injured when his car left the road and hit a tree in the Lake District.

The victim, who had been driving a Honda Civic on the A66 at Embleton, near Cockermouth, had to be cut from the wreckage by fire crews.

The A66 was closed for about three hours following the crash.

Cumbria Police are appealing for anyone who saw the silver-coloured car driving towards Cockermouth from the Keswick direction at the time.
