Player charged over pitch clash | The incident is alleged to have taken place at Barrow's ground | A Cumbrian footballer has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm during an FA Cup clash. Barrow defender James Cotterill is accused of throwing a punch at Bristol Rovers player Sean Rigg at Barrow's Holker Street ground on 11 November. Mr Cotterill was immediately suspended from all football activity as the Football Association investigated. Cumbria Police said the charge followed consultation with football authorities and the Crown Prosecution service. Mr Rigg was treated for a double fracture of the jaw after the game.
