Digger stuck in supermarket wall
A digger has been driven into the front of a supermarket in Cumbria in what appears to have been an attempted robbery, police have said.

The would-be thieves targeted the Booths store in the market town of Kirby Lonsdale in the early hours of Saturday.

It is believed they fled empty-handed when the yellow digger became embedded in the wall.

The sound of falling masonry woke nearby residents who called police.

Structural engineers were called in to assess the damage to the building.
