Mr Fieldhouse had denied breaking the lake speed limit |
A waterskiing enthusiast has lost his appeal against a conviction for breaking the speed limit on Windermere. Local businessman Nick Fieldhouse had been found guilty of exceeding the 10mph (16 km/h)limit in June, and fined 200 and ordered to pay 300 costs.
His appeal was rejected at Carlisle Crown Court on Friday, the fine upheld and further costs of 832 imposed.
The limit was introduced on England's largest natural lake last March by the Lake District National Park Authority.
Two lake wardens said they saw Mr Fieldhouse driving a powerboat towing another man at about 20mph (32km/h) in June last year.
He denied the charge, arguing that they had been more than two miles (3.2km) away and had failed to video the offence or use a laser speed gun.
Judge Barbara Forrester said she was satisfied with the warden's evidence, and upheld the conviction.
