Flowers spell out safety message
Flowers in hearse
The flowers urge drivers to slow down on Cumbria's roads
Shoppers in a Cumbrian town are being delivered a hard-hitting message about road safety.

A funeral hearse with the message 'slow down' written in flowers displayed in the back will be parked in Workington on Monday.

In 2004, 57 people were killed and 377 seriously injured on Cumbria's roads and police say speeding is a major factor in many accidents.

The event is part of a campaign by Safer Roads for Cumbria.

Cumbria Fire Service community risk support watch manager Joe Little said: "It is vital that people are made aware of the dangers of driving too fast.

"Driving just a few miles an hour over the speed limit vastly increases the risks of injury if you crash.

"We see too many people being killed or seriously injured on Cumbria's roads every year."
