Flood-hit city marks return home
Flooding in Carlisle
Parts of Carlisle were left uninhabitable after the floods
People who were forced to abandon their houses when floods swept through a Cumbrian city are holding a huge street party to celebrate their return home.

Three people died in storms and floods in Carlisle in January, which left thousands of houses without power.

Homes were left under several feet of water, forcing people to find rental accommodation or move in with family.

An all-day party is being held in Denton Holme on Saturday, the first event of many expected across the city.

It will feature live bands, a bouncy castle and videos of what happened in the floods.

Hundreds of businesses and properties were affected by the floods.

Efforts are now being made to strengthen flood defences for the future.
