Teenagers across Cumbria are being asked about a range of health issues for a major survey. Cumbria County Council wants to build up a picture of diet, exercise, sports and what health issues concern 11 to 19-year-olds.
The survey is being launched on Tuesday at Carlisle College.
It is part of a project for which the council has been awarded 20,000 by the Centre for Public Scrutiny which will run until March 2007.
'Lack of information'
Chairman of the health and well being scrutiny committee, Councillor Peter Farmer, said: "The project aims to find the best ways to promote teenage health.
"A great deal has been said and written in the media about the health and habits of the current generation of young people in Britain.
"But there is a lack of information about their habits and attitudes towards health issues.
"This important project should provide the information we need to make sure the services provided by the council and other organisations are meeting their needs."
The survey can be completed online and the information provided will be used by the council and other organisations and individuals who work with young people.
