Pony shot 14 times with air rifle
A pony is recovering after being shot 14 times with an air weapon, police in Cumbria say.

The pony was grazing in fields near Millom, Cumbria, when the attack happened between 4pm on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday.

Officers believe a .22 calibre air weapon was used in the attack. A police spokesman said the animal had been left in an "extremely distressed state".

The pony received veterinary treatment and is recovering.
