Police in Cumbria are warning bank customers to be vigilant after a sophisticated cash machine scam was uncovered. A member of the public contacted the police on Saturday after spotting a suspicious device attached to a cash machine in Bowness-on-Windermere.
When the device was examined, police discovered that it could be used to record bank details and PIN numbers.
It was attached to the Natwest cash machine on Bank Terrace.
The device may have been in place for some time.
Anyone who has used the cash machine recently is advised to check all their transactions.
