Speed camera vans given makeover

The new livery is being used on all Cumbria's vans
Mobile speed camera vans in Cumbria have been given a makeover to make it easier for motorists to spot them.

Mobile speed cameras, run by Cumbria Safety Cameras, are used to monitor almost 50 hotspots in the county.

But some members of the public have claimed that the vehicles are hard to see.

Now the camera vans have been given an eye-catching new livery to make them even more visible to drivers on the county's roads.

A Cumbria Safety Cameras spokesman: "Despite previous efforts to make the vans more visible we were getting letters and e-mails from people saying that they did not see the vans, which monitor the 47 hotspots in the county.

"I think we can safely say that the new design is striking and if people are driving and observing the road then they will have no difficulty in recognising the vans."

The move follows a series of campaigns across Cumbria aimed at reducing the number of accidents caused by speeding.

The most recent involved targeting speeding truckers in Barrow.
