Bus passengers in Cumbria are facing disruption after drivers voted to strike in a row over pay. On Friday, the Transport and General Workers Union (T&G) said its members who work for Stagecoach had voted for industrial action.
It means there will be a 24-hour strike on 10 May.
Stagecoach said it was "surprised and disappointed" at the announcement and said it hoped it would be able to provide some services.
T&G regional industrial organiser Alan McGuckin said the vote followed a ballot on 16 April.
Negotiations finished
He said: "We have drivers driving 25 people on a bus on 5.40 an hour. Drivers want a decent wage.
"We don't want to inconvenience people too much. I am sure people will understand that this isn't a frivolous dispute."
The action will affect services across Cumbria as drivers are based at Barrow, Carlisle, Kendal and West Cumbria.
Stagecoach commercial director Chris Bowles said: "We are surprised and disappointed at this turn of events.
"We had made the pay offer and negotiations finished some time ago and the trade union recommended acceptance of that pay offer."
