New warship is put to the test
HMS Bulwark
A whole range of tests on the ship is being carried out
Trials of a Royal Navy warship which is being built in Cumbria are due to be carried out over the weekend.

HMS Bulwark is being built at BAE Systems in Barrow.

The company says if the trials are a success, it will be a major step towards handing over the ship to the Navy.

The trials include testing the systems which allow the entire ship to be dipped down into the water before an internal dock is flooded.

Landing vehicles can then be launched from the flooded dock.

On Saturday, the ship was being dipped in the centre of Buccleugh Dock.

The davits, which lower small landing craft, will also be tested.

On Sunday, the ship will be tilted to an angle of up to 10 degrees.
