Car firm Tata Motors has been given a £10m loan to manufacture electric vehicles in the UK.

The Indian company has already developed a four-seater electric vehicle, which is being produced at its factory near Coventry.

Announcing the loan, Business Secretary Lord Mandelson said the £10m would support £25m of investment from Tata to develop the car.

This would secure engineering jobs in the West Midlands, he added.
