Residents calling for their village to have a Warwickshire postcode have handed a petition into Downing Street.
Hawkesbury, in the borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth, borders Coventry but has the city's CV6 postcode.
Residents said it caused major problems and could put them at risk because emergency services had trouble finding their homes.
The petition calls for a CV7 postcode, but Royal Mail says it does not see a need to make the change.
A number of residents travelled to London to hand in the petition.
They said house prices were among factors affected, as the CV6 postcode was considered by some buyers as less attractive.
Steve Vick from the residents' association, said: "We have problems trying to get grant applications, problems getting prescriptions delivered and you have problems with the emergency services."
