A Lidl supermarket is to be built in Leamington Spa despite 50 objections, one of them from its German-owned rival, Aldi. The shop will be built on the site of the former Hurran's garden centre in Myton Road. Warwick District Council approved the plan on Tuesday, with eight councillors voting for the scheme and two against. Opponents of the store included The Warwick Society and representatives of Aldi which has a store in Atherstone. Lidl's first application was turned down by the district council in February.
