Electricity cable theft attempted
An "extremely dangerous" attempt was made to steal live electricity cables in Warwickshire, police have said.

It happened at Judkins Quarry in Tuttle Hill, Nuneaton, some time between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, causing a power cut at the site.

It is thought the thieves were trying to steal the cables to sell for scrap.

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said: "By contacting us about this incident, you could save the life of someone, before they try this again."

The spokesperson added: "The thieves could have been killed, or at least could have received serious electrical burns while trying to steal electric cables, which had a live current passing through them.

"We would appeal for anyone who knows anything about this attempted theft to contact the Warwickshire Police Crimedesk on 02476 643111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
