Bob Woolmer was a popular coach for Warwickshire |
A former colleague of Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer has called for a permanent memorial to him to be installed at Edgbaston. Mr Woolmer, 58, died on Sunday after collapsing at his hotel hours after Pakistan's World Cup loss to Ireland.
Former Warwickshire Cricket Club chief executive Dennis Amiss said it would be a fitting tribute.
During Mr Woolmer's time as Warwickshire coach the county won several titles.
'Very proud'
These included the NatWest Trophy in 1993 and the treble of the County Championship, Sunday League and Benson & Hedges Cup the following year.
Mr Amiss said: "He brought great honour to the club.
"I know the club were thinking of doing something to honour Bob and everyone at the club is very proud of what he achieved for Warwickshire."
Mr Woolmer's sudden death is being treated as "suspicious" by police in Jamaica.
