Miner, 45, is killed at colliery
A man from south Derbyshire has died in an accident at a Warwickshire pit.

Police went to Daw Mill Colliery, Arley, early on Sunday after the miner, 45, suffered fatal head injuries.

The man from Swadlincote was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Warwickshire Police said there were no suspicious circumstances to his death.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and are investigating the circumstances of his death. His name has not yet been released.

Police said the family of the man has been informed but formal identification has not yet taken place.
